Consent Mode Checker by CookieOfficer ("the extension") is a browser tool that shows how Google Consent Mode v2 is implemented on the website you are currently visiting. This policy explains what the extension does with data.
Summary
The extension runs entirely in your browser. It does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. It makes no network requests of its own. There are no accounts, no analytics inside the extension, and no tracking.
What the extension accesses, and why
- The consent state of the page. The extension reads the consent commands the page sends to its own data layer (the "consent" and "set" calls made by Google's tag) and the consent state kept internally by Google's tag library. This is how it can show which consent signals were set, with what value, and in what order. It happens only on the page you are viewing, and the result stays on your device.
- Addresses of measurement requests. The extension observes, read-only, the addresses of requests that the page sends to Google measurement endpoints (Google Analytics, Google Ads, Floodlight), so it can decode the consent parameters carried in them (gcs, gcd, dma, npa). No request is blocked or modified, request contents are never read, and requests coming from embedded third-party frames are ignored.
- Detection of consent and marketing platforms. The extension checks for well-known JavaScript objects on the page to recognise which consent platform is installed (for example Cookiebot, OneTrust, Usercentrics), whether your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, and whether platforms outside Google are present, such as Microsoft UET, Microsoft Clarity, Meta Pixel, HubSpot, or Shopify.
- Page navigation. The extension is notified when you navigate to a new page, for one reason only: to clear the previous result, so that data from one page is never shown for another. No browsing history is kept, aggregated, or transmitted.
- Session storage. The result for the current tab is kept in the browser's session storage so the popup can display it. It is held in memory, is never written to disk, is removed when you close the tab, and is cleared when you close the browser.
- Toolbar badge. The extension shows the verdict for the active tab on its toolbar icon. This stays on your device.
Data collection
None. The extension does not collect, store, sell, or transfer any of your data to us or to third parties. It makes no network requests at all: everything, including the decoding of consent parameters, is computed locally from code bundled inside the extension. No remote code is loaded.
Links to our websites
When you choose to click "Check", the extension opens cookieofficer.com in a new tab. For your convenience it passes the domain of the site you are currently on (so the scanner can pre-fill it) together with standard campaign parameters that tell us the visit came from the extension. This happens only when you click. Clicking the "Powered by DataWolves" logo opens datawolves.pl. Those websites have their own privacy policies.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
